For freelancers

A calm, professional handover for every client, even when you work alone

As a freelancer you are the designer, the developer or the writer, and also the project manager, the account manager and the person who answers "where is that file again?". Clientwharf gives each client one private portal for files, progress updates, approvals and the things you need from them, so the admin side of a project takes less of your week.

The handover problem

Where the time goes on a solo project

Most of the friction is not in the work itself. It is in getting work to clients and getting answers back.

  • Files spread across email and drive links

Drafts go out as attachments, finals go out as a shared folder, and three weeks later nobody is sure which link has the latest version.

  • Approvals that live in a reply thread

"Looks good" in an email is easy to lose and hard to point to later, especially when the client remembers approving a different version.

  • Waiting on content and access

Logins, copy, brand files and photos arrive in pieces, or not at all, and chasing them takes as long as the task they block.

  • Status updates that depend on you remembering

Clients want to know where things stand. Without a shared place to look, that becomes another round of messages and calls.

How Clientwharf helps

One portal per client, set up in minutes

Each client gets a private portal. They sign in with a magic link sent to their email, so there is no password for them to manage.

  • Private client portals

Every client sees only their own projects, files and messages. You invite their contacts by email and can preview the portal yourself.

    How client portals work
  • Files with versions

Upload drafts and finals into project folders. New uploads become v2, v3 and so on, and clients always see which version is current.

    File delivery and versions
  • Recorded approvals

Ask for approval on a specific file. The client approves or requests changes, and Clientwharf records who decided, on which version and when.

    About approvals
  • A requests checklist

List what you need from the client, such as copy, logins or brand files. They reply, attach files and mark items done.

    About requests
  • An updates timeline

Post short progress notes on each project. Clients get an email and can read the full history in one place.

    About the updates timeline
  • Your brand and your documents

On Freelancer Pro and above, add your logo and brand color to portals and share quote and invoice documents as PDFs.

    Branding options

In practice

A typical project with Clientwharf

Here is how a small branding or website project might run from kickoff to handover.

  1. Create the client and the project

Add the client, create a project with dates and a short description, and invite your main contact by email.

  2. Ask for what you need up front

Add requests for the logo files, the copy and any account access. The client sees them as a checklist in the portal.

  3. Share drafts and collect feedback

Upload the first draft and request approval. Comments stay attached to the approval, so feedback does not scatter across inboxes.

  4. Hand over the finals

Upload the approved version and post a closing update. The client keeps one place to come back to for every file you delivered.

Common questions

Do my clients need to create an account?

No password is needed. Client contacts sign in with a magic link sent to their email address, and they only ever see their own portal.

Can I send invoices through Clientwharf?

On Freelancer Pro and above you can create quote and invoice documents as branded PDFs and share them in the portal. Clientwharf doesn't process payments. You set each document's status yourself.

What happens if I stop using Clientwharf?

You can export your files and project data at any time. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the paid period, and then the workspace becomes read-only.

Spend less time on handovers

Set up your first client portal and see how it feels to send one link instead of ten emails.

No card required. When the trial ends, your workspace becomes read-only until you choose a plan. Nothing is deleted.
