How notifications work

Clientwharf sends email when something happens that someone needs to know about: a new update, an approval to give, a comment, a request. Each person chooses how they want to hear about each type of event.

For every notification type you can pick:

  • Right away. An email shortly after it happens.
  • Daily digest. One email a day that summarizes everything of that type.
  • Off. No email. You still see everything in Clientwharf.

If you have not changed a setting, it is set to right away.

Change your settings

  1. Open Settings > Notifications at /app/settings/notifications.
  2. Choose right away, daily digest or off for each notification type.
  3. Save your changes.

Settings are personal and per workspace. If you belong to two workspaces, you can set them differently.

What your team can be notified about

  • Decisions on approvals.
  • New comments.
  • Requests the client has completed.
  • New files uploaded by the client.

What clients receive

Client contacts receive emails about activity in their own portal: new updates, approval requests, new comments, new requests, reminders for overdue requests, new files and shared quote and invoice documents. Each email:

  • Says which workspace it comes from, so the client recognizes the sender.
  • Links straight to the right place in their portal.
  • Includes a link to change their notification settings.

Contacts can use the same right away, daily digest or off choices for their own emails, from the account page in their portal.

Emails you always receive

Some emails are needed to use your account safely and cannot be turned off, for example:

  • Email confirmation and password reset links.
  • Magic sign-in links.
  • Invitations.
  • Important messages about your trial and subscription.

If emails do not arrive

  • Check your spam, junk or quarantine folder.
  • Make sure the notification type is not set to off, or to the daily digest if you expected an instant email.
  • Ask your IT team to allow email from clientwharf.com if your company filters new senders.

If emails still do not arrive, contact support@clientwharf.com with the address that should receive them.

Tips for a calm inbox

  • Use the daily digest for comments and file uploads, and keep approval decisions on right away.
  • Suggest the digest to client contacts who review a lot of work.
  • Post fewer, more complete updates rather than many small ones.
